I woke up today with the realisation that we are ankle deep in December and I am just not ready for it. With only 14 sleeps until Christmas and 20 sleeps until 2018, I can’t help but think back on how crazy fast this year has gone. Personally I was hoping to be rich and famous by now, but I guess retirement at the ripe old age of 31 is not an option just yet… maybe next year!
That being said, my Instagram feed is starting to fill up with people heading off on their December holidays and clips of the silly season in full swing. With so much sun and celebration, December can be turmoil for healthy eating! The desperation to get “dac for vac” muddled together with the joys of mince pies and bubbly makes the festive season a minefield. However by the same token, December is always such a happy month spent celebrating with friends and family and getting some well-deserved rest after a manic year.
Luckily for us, the answer to a healthy festive season does not have to involve skinless turkey, brussle sprouts (although I do have a delicious recipe for those epic little green guys) and pudding free meals. I think one of the most important aspects of keeping things tidy during December is trying to be mindful of your food choices and trying to keep some sort of routine especially when it comes to exercise. December is bound to have its overindulgences, but by planning your meals and incorporating some tasty and healthy options, it can help to ease the blow.
